Engagement Rings are selected and bought with utmost care. Generally, it is the men who gift engagement rings as they propose marriage, because the ring gives a sense of security to the women. After all, since many marriage proposals are done in private, with only the couple bearing witness to this romantic moment, the engagement ring is a proof that tells other people that the couple is betrothed.

Usually, it is only the women who wear engagement rings, but in some cases, both the future bride and the future groom wear matching rings, only that the ring of the groom-to-be is more subtle and does not have a high diamond setting as well as other highlighted features the bride’s engagement ring has. This is because men’s engagement rings are designed to be more practical for sport, work and maintenance activities.

The tradition of presenting or giving engagement rings as a sign of betrothal will not be easily forgotten. And since engagement rings are a symbol of love, devotion and a promise of marriage, many couples have their engagement rings engraved with their names, a significant date, a loving phrase or other symbolic note to add intimacy and individuality on the rings.
